Football vs. American Football

The author of http://www.nflfootballistherealfootball.blogspot.com/ has as main idea in his web page show notices and informations about the sport that he call by football...the problem is, its not football. I like this sport, its really fun, i practice it, but it cant be called by football, and do u know why? First because the "real football" was invented a lot of time before the american sport and since that it was invented it has this name; second because logical, the name "football" is composed by the union of two words: foot and ball. Foot is the part of the body that we use all the time during a football game for kick and control the ball, can be considered the main one for play this sport; in american football, our feet just is used for kick the ball in short parts at the game, and not a lot of times.
